Hermit ques.?

Did you ever see a hermit crab wearing a shell that they didn't fit into? Mine is currently wearing one that he cannot completly fit into. There are larger shells available. Also, what does it mean when the hermits knead into the ground? Kind of like a cat does with it's claws when it's happy.
